DESCRIPTION:Whether you are you a competitive athlete or someone who is thinking about taking on their first road race have you ever considered RUNNING FOR A REASON and picking up the baton for Action Cancer? \nRunning on behalf of Action Cancer will bring with it a whole host of personal benefits from that sense of achievement through completing it or beating you personal best. But ultimately\, running for Action Cancer helps to raise vital funds that will enable us to continue providing our vital support services.  Not only that\, knowing you are running for a good cause could just be the motivation that will help with training and may provide you with that necessary boost to push you across the finish line! \n \nAhead of your chosen race Action Cancer will provide you with a T-shirt and fundraising pack with all the necessary fundraising materials\, such as sponsor forms and collection boxes. See parts of the world you’ve only dreamed of? \nWe are excited to share some incredible opportunities for you to challenge yourself while making a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by cancer. We invite you to join one our Open Challenges and become a vital part of our mission to promote cancer prevention\, provide support\, and fund detection services. \nOver the course of 2025 we are promoting but not limited to a huge variety of challenges including \nLondon to Paris cycle – Tour de France (23rd-27th July 2025) \nNorthern Lights Trek (5th-9th March 2025) \nUK 3 Peaks Trek  (16th-18th May 2025) \nEach event has its own registration fee and minimum sponsorship amount.  To find out more about each events itinerary and sponsorship please contact us at trek@actioncancer.org. \nDon’t see one you fancy\, or have your own one in mind? SUMMARY:Group Acupuncture: Tackling Hot Flushes\, anxiety and sleep problems
DESCRIPTION:We are starting to offer group acupuncture sessions specifically targeting people experiencing hot flushes and night sweats resulting from cancer surgery/hormone treatment.   Participants will be treated in a small group setting (up to 4 people) using acupuncture needles.  Participants would individually be assessed by the acupuncturist through phone consultation before joining the group setting and would be expected to attend 5 consecutive dates for the treatment.  Whilst this service is particularly targeting symptoms of hot flushes and night sweats\, acupuncture is also beneficial in reducing anxiety\, aiding relaxation\, and improving sleep. \nDeliver times: \n\nTuesday afternoons\, Action Cancer House\, 20 Windsor Ave\, Belfast (acupuncture on arms and legs)\nWednesday/Thursday\, Derry/Londonderry (ear acupuncture only)\nWednesday\, Ulster Hospital (ear acupuncture only)\nFriday\, Newry (ear acupuncture only)\nFriday\, Coleraine (ear acupuncture only)\n\nIf you would be interested in availing of this service please complete the following intake form. \n \n

DESCRIPTION:It’s October… \nIt’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month… \nIt’s time to PAINT THE TOWN PINK! \nBe a STAND OUT this month and help us raise vital funds for our life-saving breast screening service. \nTaking part is very easy\,  all you have to do is host a fundraising event at your place of work\, your shop\, your hairdressers or even your staff room – basically wherever you work or hang out! \nYou could:\n• Get Your Bake On and hold a coffee morning in your salon or staff room\n• Brighten Your Bap – Dye you hair pink and raise sponsorship via you friends and colleagues\n• Pretty in Pink – Hold a ‘wear it pink day’ for all staff and invite customers to make donations\n• Raffle – Donate a voucher for your business and raffle it to clients \nThe next step is to fill out the registration form by clicking the BUTTON below and we will send you out your special fundraising pack which contains a host of goodies including bunting\, raffle tickets\, balloons and banners to help you make the most of your fundraiser and to add a splash of pink to your workplace. \n\n  \n \nUntil then there is plenty of time to decide on how you want to fundraise! We can also make bespoke posters or flyers for your event so just ask and we will sort that for you. \nWhatever you choose to do\, the Action Cancer fundraising team will be on hand to help. DESCRIPTION:October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. What a great way to mark the occasion by throwing caution to the wind and abseiling from Belfast Castle’s iconic fairy tale tower?! \nYou’ll be guided in this event by our expert activity providers\, Bryson Energy who will ensure you are fully harnessed and equipped with the know-how to get to it. \nAbseiling that is. \n100ft is quite a way to go down and we don’t have all day so there’s no messing\, just lots of fun and adventure for those brave enough to dare. \nAction Cancer is the only charity in the whole of the UK and Ireland to offer a FREE  breast screening service to ladies aged 40-49 and 70+. All money raised by this event will go towards those services because\, early detection saves lives. \n\nDate: 6th October 2024\nRegistration: £20\nMinimum Sponsorship: £120 \nThe Challenge: Abseil 100ft down the side of Belfast Castle’s iconic fairy tale tower\nThe Rewards: Top bragging rights.
