SUMMARY:Group Acupuncture: Tackling Hot Flushes\, anxiety and sleep problems
DESCRIPTION:We are starting to offer group acupuncture sessions specifically targeting people experiencing hot flushes and night sweats resulting from cancer surgery/hormone treatment.   Participants will be treated in a small group setting (up to 4 people) using acupuncture needles.  Participants would individually be assessed by the acupuncturist through phone consultation before joining the group setting and would be expected to attend 5 consecutive dates for the treatment.  Whilst this service is particularly targeting symptoms of hot flushes and night sweats\, acupuncture is also beneficial in reducing anxiety\, aiding relaxation\, and improving sleep. \nDeliver times: \n\nTuesday afternoons\, Action Cancer House\, 20 Windsor Ave\, Belfast (acupuncture on arms and legs)\nWednesday/Thursday\, Derry/Londonderry (ear acupuncture only)\nWednesday\, Ulster Hospital (ear acupuncture only)\nFriday\, Newry (ear acupuncture only)\nFriday\, Coleraine (ear acupuncture only)\n\nIf you would be interested in availing of this service please complete the following intake form. \n \n

SUMMARY:Breast Friends
DESCRIPTION:The Breast Friends fundraising campaign seeks to raise £30\,000 a year towards our life-saving breast screening service.  \nIt costs us £120 to deliver a free breast screening to a local woman either at Action Cancer House or on board the Big Bus. We screen approximately 7\,500 women a year for breast cancer. As our breast screening service receives no government funding\, we heavily rely on the generosity of local people to keep this service going. \nHave you had a breast screening with us or know someone affected by breast cancer? Then it’s time to get the girls together for a Breast Friends fundraiser  and make a real difference to local women in your community! \nOrganise a catch up with your Breast Friends and raise much needed funds and awareness at the same time. You could hold a coffee morning\, paint and sip event\, pamper day or ladies’ night at home\, in your local salon\, gym or anywhere of your choosing! \nYou can hold your fundraising event at any time of the year. Some supporters\, however\, choose to align with Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) or International Women’s Day which is Sunday 8th March 2026. \nJacqueline Rooney\, a 47-year-old mum of two\, Artist and Action Cancer Ambassador\, added: \n“I believe Action Cancer saved my life through early breast cancer detection. As the face of the Breast Friends campaign\, I will be using my platform as an Artist and Content Creator on social media to encourage as many women as possible to get behind this wonderful charity and host a pink event. SUMMARY:Mother's Day Walk - Lurgan Park
DESCRIPTION:Walk with her…Walk to remember her. \nThe Action Cancer Mother’s Day Walk is a fundraising event co-ordinated by the Lurgan Action Cancer Community Group. The walk will take place within the beautiful surrounds of Lurgan Park on Saturday 29th March and is a both an uplifting and tranquil experience. This is also a dog friendly walk so we encourage you to bring all members of your family. \nRegistration: £10 per adult (children under 16 free) \nThe walk begins at 12pm and will start (and end) at  bowling Pavilion by the tennis courts but you can register on the day from 11.00am. \nOnce back all participants will receive a medal and a well deserved cuppa tea and cake! \nAll monies raised will go towards helping Action Cancer continue to offer its many services some of which take place locally through visits from Big Bus visits to Lurgan and the surrounding area and the complementary therapy services for children and adults affected by cancer that take place in Zion House in the town. \nIf you are a whizz on the ‘socials’ click below to access the Mother’s Day Walk JustGiving page which you can forward to family\, friends and colleagues. \nAction Cancer Lurgan Mother’s Day Walk 2025 – JustGiving \n \nSupporting the Walk once again is Eleanor Hamilton\, mum\, sister\, daughter; “I took part in the Mother’s Day Walk last year and it was a really uplifting experience.
