SUMMARY:Host a Breast Friends BBQ
DESCRIPTION:We’ve teamed up with BBQ Social Media Influencers Jim Moore @onlyslaggin and his wife Romilly @only.rom to encourage as many people as possible to take on a ‘Breast Friends BBQ’ this summer to raise vital funds for our life-saving breast screening service. \nThe campaign encourages friends\, families\, and neighbours to come together this summer around the BBQ to enjoy good food and meaningful conversations\, all while supporting a great cause. \nIt costs us £120 to deliver a free breast screening to a local woman either at Action Cancer House or on board the Big Bus. We screen approximately 8\,000 women a year for breast cancer. As our breast screening service receives no government funding\, we heavily rely on the generosity of local people to keep this service going. \nJoanne Henderson\, mum of two from Holywood\, is an Action Cancer Ambassador having been diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 42: \n“Action Cancer saved my life through early breast cancer detection.  I had no signs or symptoms and have no idea how long before I would have noticed anything. I may not have reached the age of 50 for my first mammogram with the NHS.” \n“Please get together with your loved ones\, spread awareness and support this wonderful cause. DESCRIPTION:The Breast Foot Forward Walk sponsored by SuperValu is back on Friday 5th June 2026! \nOnline Registration is now open!! Sign Up Now\, Save a Life\, Support a Friend! \nEarly Bird is now open\, until Midnight 30th April. \nRegistration – just £10 per adult and £5 per child! All registrants who sign up by 30th April will be entered into a prize draw to win an overnight stay in Grand Central Hotel\, Belfast for 2 people\, including breakfast!\n \nThis fun filled event promises to be a night to remember\, bring the family\, bring your friends\, even bring the dog! This is a great chance to grab your BFF’s for a good old chin wag while stepping your way to the finish line\, taking in the wonderful sights Belfast City Centre has to offer and raising much needed funds for Action Cancer’s life-saving breast screening service & cancer support services along the way! \nYou can choose to walk 5km or 10km along the City Centre Route\, whatever suits you best! Both routes are well supported with motivation stations and Volunteers are on hand to keep you going! Hundreds of participants will transform the streets of Belfast into a sea of pink\, a powerful sight of how amazing our supporters are! \nStarting and ending at Belfast City Hall\, there will also be a fun warm up\, free goodies and music provided by U105! \nSo spread the word among your BFF‘s and help us to raise stacks of cash for Action Cancer’s life-saving breast screening service. \nAll participants will receive a free T shirt\, drawstring bag\, filled with goodies\, courtesy of our amazing Sponsor Supervalu & their suppliers and a fundraising pack\, with lots of support on how you can raise as much as possible for our unique breast screening services! \nBy taking part in this amazing event\, you will help us to save more lives\, lives like Bronagh’s! Bronagh is 42 and lives just outside Downpatrick with her husband & 3 children\, Cara 14\, Ruairi 11 & Eva-Rose 6. Bronagh had her breast cancer detected by Action Cancer in 2024 at the age of just 40 through a routine mammogram. \n \n  \n \nIf everyone taking part could raise the cost of a screening £120 think of the lives we could save! Last year’s walk raised over £80\,000 which provided 716 local women with a potentially life-saving breast screening appointment!
