SUMMARY:Breast Friends
DESCRIPTION:The Breast Friends fundraising campaign seeks to raise £30\,000 a year towards our life-saving breast screening service.  \nIt costs us £120 to deliver a free breast screening to a local woman either at Action Cancer House or on board the Big Bus. We screen approximately 8\,000 women a year for breast cancer. As our breast screening service receives no government funding\, we heavily rely on the generosity of local people to keep this service going. \nHave you had a breast screening with us or know someone affected by breast cancer? Then it’s time to get the girls together for a Breast Friends fundraiser  and make a real difference to local women in your community! \nOrganise a catch up with your Breast Friends and raise much needed funds and awareness at the same time. You could hold a coffee morning\, paint and sip event\, pamper day or ladies’ night at home\, in your local salon\, gym or anywhere of your choosing! \nYou can hold your fundraising event at any time of the year. Some supporters\, however\, choose to align with Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) or International Women’s Day which is Monday 8th March 2026. \nJacqueline Rooney\, a 47-year-old mum of two\, Artist and Action Cancer Ambassador\, added: \n“I believe Action Cancer saved my life through early breast cancer detection. As the face of the Breast Friends campaign\, I will be using my platform as an Artist and Content Creator on social media to encourage as many women as possible to get behind this wonderful charity and host a pink event. This could be a paint-and-sip event\, coffee morning or Girls’ Night In. Take time out of your busy schedule and use this as a great excuse to get the girls together for an overdue catch-up. DESCRIPTION:We’ve teamed up with BBQ Social Media Influencers Jim Moore @onlyslaggin and his wife Romilly @only.rom to encourage as many people as possible to take on a ‘Breast Friends BBQ’ this summer to raise vital funds for our life-saving breast screening service. \nThe campaign encourages friends\, families\, and neighbours to come together this summer around the BBQ to enjoy good food and meaningful conversations\, all while supporting a great cause. \nIt costs us £120 to deliver a free breast screening to a local woman either at Action Cancer House or on board the Big Bus. We screen approximately 8\,000 women a year for breast cancer. As our breast screening service receives no government funding\, we heavily rely on the generosity of local people to keep this service going. \nJoanne Henderson\, mum of two from Holywood\, is an Action Cancer Ambassador having been diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 42: \n“Action Cancer saved my life through early breast cancer detection.  I had no signs or symptoms and have no idea how long before I would have noticed anything. I may not have reached the age of 50 for my first mammogram with the NHS.” \n“Please get together with your loved ones\, spread awareness and support this wonderful cause. DESCRIPTION:The Breast Foot Forward Walk sponsored by SuperValu is back on Friday 5th June 2026! \nOnline registration has now closed\, you can still register at the event at Belfast City Hall on Friday 5th June from 6pm\, Thank You \nRegistration is just £15 per adult & £7 per child. This gets you an AC Branded Event T-shirt\, Bag for Life filled with freebies from SuperValu suppliers and a medal for completing the walk on the night\, as well as much\, much more on the night! \nThis fun filled event promises to be a night to remember\, bring the family\, bring your friends\, even bring the dog! This is a great chance to grab your BFF’s for a good old chin wag while stepping your way to the finish line\, taking in the wonderful sights Belfast City Centre has to offer and raising much needed funds for Action Cancer’s life-saving breast screening service & cancer support services along the way! \nYou can choose to walk 5km or 10km along the City Centre Route\, whatever suits you best! Both routes are well supported with motivation stations and Volunteers are on hand to keep you going! Bronagh is 42 and lives just outside Downpatrick with her husband & 3 children\, Cara 14\, Ruairi 11 & Eva-Rose 6. Bronagh had her breast cancer detected by Action Cancer in 2024 at the age of just 40 through a routine mammogram. \n \n  \n \nIf everyone taking part could raise the cost of a screening £120 think of the lives we could save! Last year’s walk raised over £80\,000 which provided 716 local women with a potentially life-saving breast screening appointment!
