Action Cancer needs to raise £4 million every year to enable us to continue to deliver our life-saving & support services
We are a local charity meaning all money raised is put to good use only within Northern Ireland
For every £1 of income, 82p is spent on our cancer prevention, detection and support services
All of our services are free to the user but cost the charity the following…
£120 BREAST SCREENING
£120 SKIN CANCER DETECTION APPOINTMENT
£50 HEALTH CHECK
£45 COUNSELLING SESSION
£40 COMPLEMENTARY THERAPY SESSION
Every year Action Cancer helps to save and support 20,000 people across Northern Ireland through the delivery of our services:
8,000 women screened for breast cancer
3,000 men and women attending skin cancer detection appointments
2,500 people receive health checks
1,500 people are supported through our support and therapeutic services including children as young as 5
We educate and empower 500 people to improve their physical and mental wellbeing and lead a healthier lifestyle
4,500 school children access our education services through our school’s programme
The Big Bus travels to 200 locations across Northern Ireland offering health checks and breast screenings
Early detection of breast and skin cancers saves lives
Through media campaigns we work to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of the most common cancers to aid early detection and communicate the importance of living a healthy lifestyle to help reduce cancer risk.
Since 1973, Action Cancer has lobbied the government to develop legislation and public policy that encourages the people of Northern Ireland to be pro-active about their own health.
